In Pompeii we will visit an entire ancient city roughly 150 acres large, which once hosted about 15.000 inhabitants. An incredibly well preserved roman town buried and forgotten under 20ft of volcanic ashes. The visit will be focused on the highlights surrounding the city centre (Forum), unless differently required.
On a typical tour, the following places will be on the itinerary: the Forum and its public buildings, the Temples, the Thermal Bath, the Big Theatre, a private house; snack bars and shops. Marvel at the fabulously preserved frescos and mosaics which adorn the walls and floors of the villas. And
see first hand the most dramatic evidence of what happened on 79 AD: the casts of the peoplewho perished during the eruption.
High on the list of the Wonders of the World, the second most visited archaeological site in Italy and the 5th in the world, Pompeii is the largest archeological site in the world, Pompeii and is a must-see during your stay in the bay of Naples (and definitely a place you want to check off your bucket list!)
The tour finishes with the visit to the ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM, one of the most remarkable collections of ancient exhibits in the world. These include the colossal sculptures inherited by the Bourbons from the Farnese collections and the treasures from Herculaneum and Pompeii, a unique heritage of mosaics, sculptures, ornaments and everyday life objects. Famous collections include the once forbidden ‘Secret Cabinet’ of erotic art from excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
