In this essential tour you’ll discover the most important and visited monuments in Venice: the St. Mark square, the millenary Basilica of St. Mark and the Doge’s Palace. Your private licensed guide will start introducing you to the fundamental questions: why Venice has been founded over muddy islands? When? By Whom? In which way? Only by knowing the answers you’ll can get the proper picture of the city, and the place to know all of this is the center: St. Mark square, the living room of Europe. Everything was started there and everything has to go back.

The Basilica of St. Mark is simply the oldest and most important church in Venice, more of 1000 years of history, 80,000 square feet (8,000 square meters) of golden mosaics, a golden altarpiece made by almost 2,000 precious stones, and much more. Optionally we can enter in the most impressive museum in Venice, the Doge’s Palace, the ancient house of the government, with its Grand Council hall 13,000 square feet (1,300 square meters) all covered by historical paintings, the sinister prisons only reachable by crossing the narrow Bridge of Sighs. From the square you will walk to Rialto bridge using all those lovely little narrow alleys to get away from all the big crowds; San Giovanni e Paolo; Acqua Alta old book shop and red light district.

At the end of the tour possible gondola ride (€80 for a 30 minutes ride during day time, during night time is €100).
